RED DUCK PORTER

Red Duck Porter. One of Red Duck’s more normal brews is their porter, which forms part of their core range. This beer is inspired by the classic London Porter, a style of dark ale, which rose to popularity with London’s river and street porters in the 18th century. A range of specialty malts were used including roasted barley which imparts a rich coffee like flavour. It’s a respectable 6% ABV.

I tried a bottle of this at a wine bar in Melbourne as the tap selection was woeful. Chocolate and roasted malt aroma. Medium body with low carbonation. Smooth mouthfeel, rich dark chocolate and underlying molasses flavour followed by a roasted coffee flavour with a moderately bitter finish.

A solid porter and a great winter beer.

8/10
