RED HILL IMPERIAL STOUT 2013

Red Hill Imperial Stout 2013. Red Hill Brewery has been bringing out a seasonal imperial stout for quite a few years now. Along with fellow brewery Moo Brew, they have started a trend amongst Aussie craft breweries to release a seasonal stout. The 2013 release uses a stack of different malts with Willamette and Goldings hops.

Jet black with a coffee coloured head and chocolate malt aroma. Medium mouthfeel – much thinner than expected with very low carbonation. Strong chocolate malt flavour with a bitter roasted malt finish. The high ABV results in a slightly sweet boozy aftertaste.

It’s flavoursome but it doesn’t tick all the boxes. The body is too thin and the carbonation seems very low.

It’s a chocolate and coffee kind of dessert stout.

7/10
