RENAISSANCE MPA (IMPERIAL INDIA PALE ALE)

Renaissance Brewing Company Marlborough Pale Ale (Imperial India Pale Ale). If I was in the Marlborough region of New Zealand’s South Island I might need to put this in the oven to reach the recommended drinking temperature of 8 degrees. If I did I would still be rewarded with a lovely beer.

You can see how inviting the bright copper looks and the hop blast started when I opened the bottle. This beer showcases the NZ Rakau hops and while they needed to delve south into Canterbury for the Pale Ale Malt, you can smell the freshness of the Marlborough forests. It is hops, bitter hops all the way, and yet the malt comes through to invite you to you swirl the beer in your mouth like a good Scotch.

This has a beautiful smooth hoppy bitterness that is a perfect celebration of a single hop.
