RIVERSIDE BREWING BOND IPA

Riverside Brewing Bond IPA. This is a limited edition beer brewed in collaboration with Time Out Magazine for Good Beer Week.

The challenge was to create a beer that represents Sydney. The cynic in me has images of a fizzy, weak-as-piss lager that is severely over-priced.

Not surprisingly, that was not their aim. Instead, the aim was to capture sunny Sydney’s beach lifestyle by making something light and fruity. The result is a single-hop Galaxy IPA with 10kg of passionfruit pulp thrown in during secondary fermentation.

Appearance-wise, it’s very cloudy, with a creamy white head, and could easily be mistaken for Coopers Pale Ale.

It screams passionfruit: initially due to the Galaxy hop flavour, followed by a big wallop of passionfruit pulp. Unfortunately, it takes over and tastes like Passiona softdrink.

It’s a very one dimensional beer – passionfruit. If you like Stone and Wood Pacific Ale you might enjoy it.
