RIVERSIDE BREWING FIFTY FIVE PALE ALE

Riverside Brewing Fifty Five Pale Ale. Since Riverside Brewing started operations in Parramatta, Sydney, in 2012, it has been going great guns. Their pale ale is one of their flagship brews.

Typical honey coloured pale ale with a fine detergent-like head and citrus / pine aroma. Medium body with moderate carbonation. A little caramel malt up front followed by a decent citrus / pine hop flavour. It has a smooth bitterness and crisp refreshing finish. I reckon the smooth bitterness and prominent hop flavour is achieved by most of the hops being added at the end of the boil or whirlpool stage.

If you are a fan of Sierra Nevada Pale you will enjoy this. It’s very similar with perhaps a little more body and hop flavour. This is a great Aussie made American Pale Ale. Being locally brewed the hop flavour is fresh and more prominent than a lot of imported US beers which have lost flavour in transit. If you are in Australia, particularly Sydney, do yourself a favour and grab a six pack.
