RIVERSIDE OTHELLO’S CURSE

Riverside Othello's Curse. It was only a matter of time. The burning question -  when will Riverside release a black IPA?

It took the biggest beer event in Australia to make it happen, The Great Australasian Beer SpecTAPular (GABS) 2014. The result is an imperial black IPA that packs a punch at 9% ABV.

Very dark brown, tan head with fine bubbles of hop oils. Beautiful pine hop aroma. Medium body, low carbonation and a smooth mouthfeel you often associate with high ABV beers. Strong pine and underlying citrus hop flavour.

Nicely balanced with a chocolate and roasted malt flavour. Resinous finish with the hop flavours lingering. The alcohol is well hidden and the high ABV suits the big and bold flavours. As it warm up a dank pine hop flavour becomes more apparent. Delicious.

Big, bold and hoppy, this beer style is right up Riverside’s alley. May this be the first of many great black IPAs to come.
