SUNTORY MAGNUM DRY

Suntory Magnum Dry. I tried this beer as I realise it’s important to try rubbish beers as well as good beers. Beers with “Dry” in their name are usually rubbish and this is no exception.

This 'beer' is classifed as a 'Happoshu' AKA 'low-malt beer' which according to Wikipedia is "a tax category of Japanese liquor that most often refers to a beer-like beverage with less than 67% malt content". More disturbingly Suntory Magnum Dry falls into the less than 25% malt content category.

It pours a very pale yellow, is quite fizzy but the head disappears quickly. It has a strange corn / stale beer aroma. From the first sip you know you in for something bad. It’s thin, a sweet malt flavour clashes with a metallic taste.

It finishes with a nasty dry chemical taste. It’s although someone has mixed a warm VB with Indian tonic water.
