TUBORG CLASSIC

Tuborg Classic. We love Tuborg here. It has one of the most awesome, high-moral-ground backstories of any brewery out there, having played a key role in the salvation of Denmark's jewish community during the holocaust.

Sadly, we don't typically love drinking it. The standard high-volume Tuborg pilsner is a bit poo. It's not even as good as Carlsberg, which now owns Tuborg.

This, though, is the Classic, based on one of Tuborg's older recipes and I grabbed this out of the SAS business lounge at Copenhagen airport.

The colour is richer and more coppery than the stock Tuborg, so that's a good start. Good head, too, which sticks around all the way to the end. Well, until amost the end, when my flight was called.

It's fairly malty, but without being cloying, and even though there's not a lot of bitterness at the end, it still cleans the palate off nicely.

Still, it's serviceable rather than special. And it's so much better than the stock Carlsberg or Tuborg fare that you wonder why Tuborg "upgraded" to the current brew.

6/10
