YEUNGLING TRADITIONAL LAGER

Yeungling Traditional Lager. Found this in the Swissair departure lounge and its brewer claims to be the oldest in the US.

Can't imagine how that can be the case if they've been brewing stuff like this for their entire 180-odd year history.

They knock this out with caramel malt and a mix of cluster and cascade hops. It needs something more and something less.

It's an unbalanced mess of a thing, with little on the front of the tongue then a big sticky hit of sweetness across the middle that tastes a bit like corn syrup mixed with asprin tablets. It all leaves your mouth dry and icky.

Didn't like it. Can't imagine the circumstance under which I ever would.

2/10
