YOUNG HENRYS DARK SHADOW

Young Henrys Dark Shadow. Finally a beer from Young Henrys I like - a classic dark ale.

It’s not like their other beers because it's actually brewed by brewer, Michael Wallace, the Champion Brewer of the Australian Amateur Brewing Championship 2012.  He was invited by Young Henrys to brew a beer of his choosing to enter into the Great Australasian Beer SpecTAPular (GABS) 2013.

Wallace decided to brew an ale version of his German Schwarzbier. He describes it as a black German-style ale AKA a ‘Schwartz Ale’. After GABS Young Henry’s distributed it under the name Young Henry’s Black Shadow.

Chocolate and coffee flavours with a medium body. Follows through with a roasted malt flavour, similar to roasted coffee, with a slightly dry finish. A solid dark ale.

8/10
