YOUNG HENRYS HOP VAN DAMME: DOUBLE IMPACT

Young Henrys Hop Van Damme: Double Impact. In the lead up to their second birthday Young Henrys approached a mile stone – their 500th brew. They decided to brew a special batch to mark the occasion. The result is Hop Van Damme: Double Impact, a pimped version of their regular Hop Ale which, as the name suggests, involved doubling the malt and hop bill. Not surprisingly the resulting beer is both hoppy and malty and comes in at 7.2% ABV.

Red amber colour, frothy head with bubbles of hop oils. Mild grainy malt aroma. Medium body, moderate carbonation and a smooth mouthfeel you often associated with beers with a high ABV. Rich, malty flavour leading into a sweet, boozy flavour. The mouthfeel is resinous with a lingering earthy hop flavour and bitterness. It’s a little too bittersweet and boozy.

I think I prefer the refreshing original Hop Ale over this.

7/10
